BACK FROM THE MOUNTAINS

We've had a great weekend in the Catskills, in spite of damage to the area by floods resulting from Hurricane Irene. Liz and Joe's house in the hills is in a little bit of paradise. The house has no electricity, so the lighting by kerosene lamps at night is atmospheric. We managed without a shower for three days. We're now back in Cortland and will go on to New York in two days.

Life in the backhills of catskills sounds great! Kerosene lights, washing under the spout of a kettle, raccoon hunting and floating down the river on huckle-berry raft
down stream into NewYork city.
In Eltham all is well considering the three of us are ill (including the dog) but recovering...the varandah has been rebricked and has taken on an oriental look. very contemplative. keep having fun!! f&L

Congratulations on the latest additions to the Barren Clan.
great to see you guys are going to a place where you can have a proper shower at last. At the moment I am at the One & Only Hotel in Cape Town - who thought that I would be returning after all these years. The Hotel is great and I have been doing catch ups with family and friends all week long. On Friday Maggie, Soropto friend, and me are off to Durbs - Natal for a 3 day Safari at Phinda game Reserve.
Looking forward to catching up with you guys on your return to OZ
Love
Anthia

It sounds like you are having a ball. It will be very interesting to hear what it is like to be in New York for 9/11.
All well here. Both boys are behaving themselves... as are Mum and Dad.
Looking forward to the next update.
Lots of love to you.
